• Exceptional Durability: Kodek bamboo is engineered for high density (>1200kg/m³) and strength, often surpassing traditional hardwoods in durability and impact resistance. It is classified as Durability Class 1 (BS EN 350), with an expected lifespan of 25 years or more.
• Highly Sustainable: Made from Moso bamboo, a rapidly renewable resource that can be harvested within 4-6 years (compared to decades for hardwoods). It has a net-negative carbon footprint over its lifespan and can be reintegrated into the soil as bio-char compost at the end of its life.
• Weather and Pest Resistance: The material is naturally resistant to rot, insects, termites, and decay due to the manufacturing process which removes most of the natural sugars, making it suitable for demanding outdoor and even marine-grade applications, such as pool decking and boardwalks.
• Safety Features: It has a high fire rating (Class A per ASTM E84) without the need for chemical treatments and offers high slip resistance in both wet and dry conditions, making it a safe option for pool areas and public spaces.
• Aesthetic Appeal & Low Maintenance: Kodek decking provides the natural, sleek appearance of wood. While it will weather to a silvery-grey over time, this can be slowed with regular oil application. It requires similar, and in some cases less, maintenance than traditional wood products.
